Visit from Emmerich

Although we were disappointed that there was no major exchange visit from Emmerich this year, we were delighted to receive five visitors on an official visit at the end of September.  They were Emmerich chairman, and her husband, Brita and Guenter Bückermann (whose wedding had taken place earlier in the year), Elke and Michael Rozendaal and Werner Stevens.  They stayed in the Duke's Head, but were hosted at an evening meal at The Globe on the day of their arrival together with commttee members, and a lunch at Heacham Manor two days later.  Some 25 members of the Lynn club also attended this event at which Brita presented a cheque to Mayor, Lesley Bambridge, the ex officio President of the Twinning Club on behalf of the Mayor of Emmerich.  The Mayor expressed her thanks and said that the money would be donated to her two charities of the year, The Purfleet Trust and Help for Heroes.  This visit also afforded an opportunity to talk about resuming full exchange visits and an invitation was issued to the Lynn club to visit Emmerich next year from 19th to 23rd May

AGM

The AGM on 7th October, was held in the Good News Centre at St John's Church and was followed by a two course hot meal provided by caterer, Sarah Shapeero Lown and an enjoyable geographical quiz devised by Kate Mould.
