The Covid 19 Pandemic curtailed most of our activities during these two years, but we were fortunate to be able to hold an afternoon tea party on Sunday, March 1st, 2020, in the Bakers Tea Room on the Saturday Market Place attended by 15 people.  We were treated to a lavish tea, which was appreciated all the more in hindsight with lockdown being imposed three weeks later.

Plans were well in hand for the biannual visit from Emmerich, but as Covid took hold across Europe, our friends in Emmerich understandably decided to cancel the trip.

We held an AGM via Zoom on 9th October, at which it was decided not to have the accounts audited as there had been so few transactions during the year.  Other decisions were to forego elections to the committee, but leave everyone in place for another year.  It was also agreed not to ask for subscriptions for a year.  One benefit of holding the meeting via Zoom was that several members of the Emmerich Committee, including their Chairman, Brita Weber, were able to join us.  We also held  a Christmas Quiz via Zoom, compiled by chairman Philip Mole, with members from both towns competing.

With another lockdown being imposed at the beginning of the new year in 2021 and Covid travel restrictions in place, there was no appetite on either side for an exchange visit.  We weren't able to hold any social events, but did manage a "live" AGM in October in the Good News Centre at St John's Church in the Walks, to which we were very pleased to welcome the Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor Harry Humphrey and Mrs Brenda Humphrey.
We held an Advent Tea party on 28th November at the home of Penny and Jonathan Dossetor with seasonal refreshments contributed by participants and rounded off the afternoon with German and English carols, accompanied by Kate Mould on the piano.  Gloria Pantling recorded us singing Stille Nacht (Silent Night) and the recording was later sent to our friends in Emmerich.
